“Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver. The real problem with “American Pie” isn’t so much that it isn’t about American pride (it isn’t), it’s that its four hours long. If you play that song it’ll still be playing when the party’s over and no other song would have been played. ---

I was going to suggest Paul Simon’s **American Tune** , but after listening to it (in my head), I realized that won’t work. How about John Mellencamp’s **R.O.C.K. in the USA** or **Little Pink Houses**? Or Neil Diamond’s **America**? mmm ---
