# Patron saints for everyday things

**manwithaplan’s** remark in [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=99139) thread gave me a chuckle, and then got me to thinking…
Who would be the patron saint of some of our commonplace items, activites, etc?
For example, the patron saint of dildos (the topic of the thread referenced above) might be…St. _Peter._
Who would be the patron saint of waiting for the bus? Traffic jams? Tennis shoes? Pull tabs?
Real saints or made-up ones, it’s all fair game.

Heh. I’ve made up such things on occasion. For instance, Steve, the patron saint of writing utensils - when you find a #2 pencil right when you need to take a scan-tron test, you thank Steve; if your pen runs out of ink, you pray to Steve… The patron saint of jammed staplers, Bob… the patron saint of beer runs, Bruce…

Is there a patron saint of the internet? I heard they wanted to make this monk who started one of the world’s first libraries (well, the AD, European world) the patron saint of the internet since he was involved with comiling knowledge.

According to [ABC News](http://abcnews.go.com/sections/world/DailyNews/britain010209_cybersaint.html) the patron saint of the Internet as named by the Pope is St. Isadore of Seville.

Leave it to me not to read the article in it’s entirety. It looks as if the patron saint of the internet has yet to be named, but will likely be St. Isadore of Seville.
