> Well, no, it was not an explicit reference to drug use. It has built-in double meaning. “California grass” can also mean the stuff in your lawn that they do have too much of in the desert around Tucson, Arizona.

> And the line “But she gets it while she can” is also ambiguous.

Now that’s even less believable than “wardrobe malfunction”. 😃

Glad to hear it! But still, the idea that the local high school just happened to have hundreds of students who are fans of Paul McCartney (or who have more than a vague idea who he even is, for that matter) is about as believable as Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” explanation. I figure they probably paid those kids a few bucks to get out there and whoop it up for Grandpa 😃

I mostly listened to the show, as I was doing something else at the time. Can anyone tell me where the piano came from?

He started out on his little platform stage playing his violin-shaped electric bass. Then, the next time I looked at the TV, he had a piano up there. Did they lower it onto the stage with a crane? Did it pop out of the floor? Did a bunch of guys carry it up those rear-projection-television ramp thingies?

Nitpick: Those were Justin Timberlake’s words, not Janet Jackson’s.
