Yes on the bowties. But, sadly, there aren’t many politicians these days of his caliber and ethics. I wish there were more with his blend of Fiscal Conservative and Social Liberal. ---

Having witnessed Senator Simon’s ethics, intellect and values for more than 25 years, I’m a good deal more upset than I would be if the other Paul Simon had died a day after having heart surgery. It’s not funny. ---

I met Senator Simon several times during my time living and going to school in Illinois. He was unswervingly ethical, upstanding, modest, intelligent and dignified and news of his death hit me. The Senate is a lesser place for his retirement and the nation is a lesser place for his passing. I truly hope, Annie, that you show one-one thousandth of the class Senator Simon possessed and apologize, along with asking that this thread title be changed to reflect the death of this great man and your churlish and disgusting “gotcha!” be edited out. ---
