In North Dakota we have some of the most liberal (heh) concealed carry laws in the world. Thanks to that, you’re all seeing news reports every day of the blood flowing freely in the streets.
Please don’t avoid North Dakota when you vacation. We promise not to shoot you. pkbites, what part of W.A. are you in? My first apartment was in a 4-plex on 81st and Greenfield across from Ron’s Derby. Good times.
Maybe she knows that not all of the airports have that fancy space-age technology, and that even the places that do don’t catch everything. I have mentioned before here my trip to Maui in 2004 when I accidently carried a leatherman tool through the security of 3 airports, including LAX, in my backpack. It went through 3 X-Ray machines and a manual search when I got picked for a random screening. If they can miss a multi-bladed knife when no one was trying to hide it from them, the idea that someone could sneak something through is not that far fetched.
I think The Puzzle she meant was the whole mess behind the Ferrari crash. It involves the Swedish Mafia, a scam gaming console called the Gizmondo, people claiming to be Homeland Security, The Royal Bank of Scotland, and some guys named Dietrich & Trevor, among a cast of thousands.
That stiff gets through, though. If they missed your knife, they could easily have missed a standard .38 revolver. Every local news station runs a periodic “exposé” in which they show how easy it is to get a lit Stratego bomb through the airport undetected.
Maybe, but you don’t have any cities or people. I mean, how often is there cause for an argument in North Dakota? I imagine everyone’s in a pretty good mood when all 30 people get together for the state fair once a year.
If Rove is all those things, then why is Bush’s approval rating at 34% and Cheney’s at 30%. Sorry for the hijack, but I’ve grown tired of the Rove Is Brilliant hogswaddle.
Why invoke a conspiracy, when just run-of the-mill journalistic stupidity personified by Paula Zahn will do?
Occam’s razor and all…
BTW, I don’t subscribe to cable TV, so I doubt if I’ve ever seen Paula Zahn. In fact, for the longest time, whenever I hear her name mentioned in conversation, I heard Paul Azahn … so I thought CNN had a male reporter/anchor by that name!
The reason it hasn’t is because virtually every store and public building in the state refuses to allow guns on their premises. It discourages people from going around strapped because they can’t bring their weapons inside anywhere.
All? All?All? Horseshit. You’re not that stupid, so you must be trying to deliberately deceive the casual readers of this thread. Take a look at the very last portion of that post. It’s a link to, ya know, an actual study. A study for which the methodology is available. An actual study of of “actual news reportage.” A study which overwhelmingly demonstrates a very significant anti-gun bias in the “NEWS media.” Just like you asked.
I can understand you dismissing the quotations for various reasons. I obviously disagree, but your dismissal was expected. In any case, I’m not so sure you can just wave them all away like that, because even opinion pieces often must have editorial approval.
Mebbe - for a couple of those quotations. But persons advocating outright bans certainly cannot be said to be pro-gun, or even pro-gun rights.
Maybe. At least that’s the gist of the conversation between the other participants in it. But I still don’t see how finding a “gun part” is a “piece of the puzzle.” In every state in America, it is legal to transport firearms in your vehicle. Statistically speaking, a certain number of guns and “gun parts” are gonna be found in car wrecks. But they almost never are “part of the puzzle.” Unless, of course, a crash has ensued after a hi-speed cop pursuit and shots were fired. Paula’s statement was a gratutious and wildly (not to say deliberately) inaccurate remark probably made to promote discord.
Rove’s brilliance is that even though they’re both immensely unpopular, they’d still beat pretty much anyone the Dems put up in a fight against them. Of course, it could just be that the Dems are dumb. I think it’s likely that it’s a bit of both.
There’s no point in bringing a gun in the car if you can’t bring it into your workplace or into any public business or into a gas station or anywhere else.
Zahn was just repeating what the police said. If it doesn’t make sense, blame the LA sheriff’s department since they’re the ones who made the statement that it’s a clue in the first place.
Since one can’t carry the gun into most places of business, people are simply leaving them at home. And this explains why the bloodbath you predicted failed to take place. That’s pretty sound so far. But there’s more which negates it. The hole here, of course, is that the same conditions that you’re using now explain why the bloodbath didn’t occur, were actually present when you made your prediction. And you were demonstably aware that was the case. You said in post #2 of that thread that "Thank God most businesses and government buildings have already posted signs saying “no firearms.” So the condtion that prevents a bloodbath now, is actually pre-existing. On what basis then, did you make your prediction?
Really man, that’s a pretty shabby and convoluted justification you’re making. You keep on with posts like that, people are gonna begin to think you don’t know what in the hell you’re talking about. In fact, some of us already have that sneaking suspicion.
Now that we’ve finished with that happy little side trip down memory lane, perhaps you’d like to go back to topic at hand and address the points you are trying to gloss over. Specifically, my rebuttal to your blanket dismissal of the evidence of anti-gun bias presented previously. You’ve neglected entirely to address the media study I gave you.
Maybe. But the errors of fact are still all hers. And I see that it wasn’t even really an integral part of the gun they found. It’s just a damn magazine. What’s more, there’s no indication that the cops found any bullets. Without an actual gun - and bullets - a magazine’s a pretty useless item.
And ya know what else? This post isn’t even responsive to my question. What I wanna see you do is quantify that claim. What percentage of businesses have posted these signs? “Virtually every” means no less than, say, 75%.
What errors of fact? The police said the gun is another piece of the puzzle and the media duly reported it. You may claim that she (or CNN or the media in general) was negligent in not delving further into the claim and seeing if it truly was another piece of the puzzle, but as it stands now the magazine may indeed be another piece of the puzzle. Maybe they think it has prints or something on it. I dunno.
