If AQ’s chief bomb maker, Abu Khabab al-Masri, was taken out. Chances are that the loss would have an effect in their ability to strike which is probably directly proportional to saving lives.

Also, I doubt many Republicans bother torturing puppies as adults; they’re too busy tormenting and killing people. Iraq being a case in point. I don´t think AQ has any shortage of people with the knowledge of how to build a bomb; one less of them, even if it´s Professor Kaboom himself, won´t have any effect in their ability to strike.
