I’m part of the problem as well, but for a different reason - I go to shoe company retailers to get shoes. I can’t remember when, or even if, I have bought shoes from somewhere other than a Red Wing store or a G.H. Bass or Nike factory outlet. I don’t buy shoes (or pants) online, as I don’t really want to go through the hassle of returning them if they don’t fit.
My wife and I are both bummed about this because Payless (or Payles’s as I call it) is the only place that consistently carries our sizes, no special order required.
A big source of stuff for my local charity shops is items which are off-spec because of some little thing nobody who doesn’t work in quality control would notice (OMG there is a tiny notch on the bottom!) and batch fillers (sales are for 543 items but the machine works in bunches of 10). Direct from the factory.
Hahaha! Well said!
Payless used to be my go-to location for buying shoes. But that obnoxious doorbell chime that goes off whenever anyone in the store, you know, moves so much as a muscle finally drove me to the brink, and I moved on.
Well, we just did our part - Got 8 pairs of shoes for various children at a nice discount.
