First off, a poll: what type of peanut butter do you favor?

Second, do you stick to the classic peanut butter & jelly (jam, etc.), or add other ingredients? I’m working on a sandwich right now that features crunchy peanut butter, apricot preserves, and a middle layer of granola crumbs from a nearly used-up bag. It works, so I’ve discovered a possible use for the bits that are too small to either just munch or use as cereal (bits this small would get soggy in milk, and I don’t like that texture).

Crunchy peanut butter

With jam or preserves. Or apple butter. Personal favorites are red plum jam, strawberry jam, and peach preserves.

ETA: I don’t add anything else to the sandwich, but I ALWAYS eat one with potato chips (or sometimes Fritos) and a glass of milk.

Sometimes putting potato chips on it strikes my fancy.

Was surprised when this came up with a couple friends in the UK - that they were unfamiliar with the concept of a PB&J sandwich (one actually thought I meant separate sandwiches of peanut butter and jelly (each by themselves)).

When I make one (which is not very often), it’s usually crunchy peanut butter and strawberry jam, preferably on whole wheat. I can think of a lot of other things that would work on it (your example of granola, or sunflower seeds, for instance), but I don’t generally bother.

I like strawberry preserves and blueberry preserves. If I’m feeling fancy, I’ll spring for some almond butter instead of peanut. Otherwise, natural, no sugar added, smooth peanut for me.

I like either smooth or crunchy peanut butter, though I usually buy smooth because I use it to make peanut sauce more often than sandwiches. But coincidentally tonight for the first time in as long as I can remember I had a sandwich- smooth unsweetened, unsalted peanut butter on homemade whole wheat bread, with Constant Comment tea and cream. So good.

I don’t really like peanut butter and jelly. I prefer jelly on toast with butter. I wouldn’t turn down a PB&J, per se, I just wouldn’t make one for myself.

Crunchy.

Cherry or peach or apricot or raspberry preserves/jam.

Or maybe honey instead of jam.

Or (my real favourite) PB and a sliced banana…

Strawberry preserves and chunky peanut butter. Grilled ala grilled cheese with a glass of super cold whole milk.

Creamy PB with strawberry preserves. Or bananas. But not both.

Crunchy PB. Always crunchy. With honey for sandwiches, or on a banana (no bread). I tried a pb and bacon sandwich once and it was surprisingly good.

Creamy. Crunchy upsets my widdle tummy. PB&J is fine. PB&H is also good. My fave is PB and mayo, though.

Creamy, the all natural kind you have to stir.

I rarely make a sandwich, but when I do it’s just peanut butter and bread.

Usually I just eat it with a spoon. Sometimes I dip apple slices or my banana in it.

Raspberry or grape jelly. Lately I’ve been rating pb & honey… which is awesome!

Creamy. With strawberry or grape jelly or jam.

I live sandwiched with crushed potato chips on the PB. I also love dipping pretzel rods into the PB jar.

Crunchy. I like the “natural” brands that don’t have any extra salt or sugar.

And then you had to go make it weird.

I knife in chunks of salted butter, then just eat it from the jar.
