Some children’s books are coupled with dvds(and even vhs tapes in earlier years) as a bonus… I was just looking for a little clarification.
No, I dimly recall the Peggy Fleming one but I knew who she was. Keeler, not so much. Orr and Keeler were the two I remember best.
I did not remember the Mama Cass strip, but I doubt I would’ve known who she was either.
Thanks skywatcher for digging the Keeler strip up, and kunilou for the pic of the legs!
I remember reading those strips in my huge collection of Peanuts paperbacks* as a kid, and not knowing who any of the people were, but always laughing anyway because of the reactions of everyone Peppermint Patty was talking to (“xxxxx xxxxx legs?”).
*Which I just got rid of a few days ago because I realized I didn’t need them anymore now that all of the “Complete Peanuts” books are out. Still made me sad, though.
Peppermint Pattie keeps telling Marci to stop calling her “Sir”
I wonder if that was foundation of “Don’t Call me Shirley” one-liner.
Costco has some hardcover compilations of the complete daily strips from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s for $25 each. Much cheaper than the Fantagraphics books, which are about that price for 2 years per volume.
