Anything by Walt Ribeiro’s For Orchestra project. The cover of [Friday I’m in Love](http://fororchestra.com/post/19473092666/the-cure-friday-im-in-love-for-orchestra) is particularly disturbing. My local NPR station uses it as bumper music during the 7:40 AM station ID break on Friday mornings, and I’ve learned to tune away just because I’m afraid of losing consciousness at freeway speeds during my commute to work. ---

Luther Wright and the Wrongs do a fantastic re-interpretation of Pink Floyd’s The Wall. I’ve seen it called a bluegrass version of The Wall but I would consider it to be country as not all the songs are straight up bluegrass. I love Foxes swing jazz take on Queen’s [Don’t Stop Me Now](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-OTYT02W7E). Originally off a Doctor Who episode. My personal favourite, though, is The Puppini Sisters covering [Wuthering Heights](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gzs7_fRNbpE) in a 1940s close harmony Andrews Sisters style; the arrangement kicks arse, and some serious singing chops here. ---

There’s a cover I heard once and would like to find: Bette Midler covered “Bette Davis Eyes”. Not really weird or anything, but the tone she gave it was hilarious. Instead of the rough-edged feel of the Kin Carnes version, she was making fun of the object of the song, rather sarcastically.
