or bath tub. What do you guys think? Is it ok? I’m talking about private in house showers…so is it an acceptable thing to do? Or do the dopers say no? ---

I’m in the shower, I feel the need, there’s a drain in front of me, I say shoot! Aim for the drain and let it go. Don’t know about women though, wouldn’t it kind of run down the legs? 🙂 ---

In my shower and alone? you betcha! Aim for the drain. Urine is 90% water anyway, and unless you’re sick, it’s sterile. ---

I don’t normally pee in the shower. Not from any sense of propriety, though; the drain is usually running slow because it’s clogged with my goddammed hair. I don’t wanna stand in my piss. ---

Actually, Argyle, unless you have some sort of wierd disease, your urine is perfectly safe for you, and mostly safe for others. ---

Actually, once urine exits the body, it’s no longer sterile. It’s only sterile while in the bladder. While it passes, it tends to pick up tons of bacteria along the way…from one’s nether regions. Oh, and to answer the OP. I’m a bit compulsive. I pee before each and every shower, so that I don’t have to go while I’m in there. That’s just nasty to use the tub as a toilet. ---

Ahhh, one of the many joys of bachelorhood. Also way up there; Blowing you nose in a nice hot steamy shower, first thing in the morning. Doing both in the same shower can cause overbliss. Peace, mangeorge (Draws the line at shitting in the shower) ---

I once heard on Oprah that urine is sterile like 20 secs after it hits the air. AND it’s safe to drink if you are REALLY REALLY desperate, but only once or twice. I learned that one in Health class. Is this just a guy thing? Because I do it too. It’s much easier than getting out. ---

Shower? You betcha. Bath? No way. There’s a huge difference between using a handy drain and soaking in your own filth. Oh, and I’m also a big fan of the shower nose-blow. Why waste a perfectly good Kleenex? ---

If I’m in there and I have to go…why not? However, I **never** do it in the dorm showers, although I have had the unfortunate experiance of, um, knowing that someone peed in the next shower while I was in there. Ewwwww. ---

I knew I had seen it somewhere. I’ve seen that column by Cecil. That’s why I made my assertion. I think we have different ideas of what sterility is. If you mean safe to drink, then yes. In fact, piss drinking is part of Navy Seal training, because if you can drink your own piss, you can use it to replace the lost water. I wouldn’t advise making it a daily thing, though. Remember, the whole idea behind urination is to purify the body of toxins. If you hold it too much, you know what happens? You get a urinary tract infection. I won’t go into details, but my mother is a nurse and she told me about it. To me, it would seem that something that is sterile would never cause an infection. As for Oprah, she thinks she knows everything, and she is often wrong or distorts information. People, she’s a talk show host. Would you listen to Springer tell you you could drink piss? I don’t think so… ---

I am not one to pee in the shower for the simple reason that i think it’s kind of “odd.” I have a toilet, if I have to pee i can hold it in. I am just waiting for someone to bring say that they poop in the tub. That, btw, is a disgusting practice for those who know better. ---
