The Republican base (even the country club set I was depressed to learn recently) is pretty simple minded and completely devoid of the ability to think for themselves. This hypothetical situation which is far too good to hope for, could drag on for months. It seems that a three way race with prearranged tickets would be a great boon for Democracy as the Republicans would be so very busy attacking and assassinating each other. There could even be chants of “Hang Mike Pence” at presidential rallies if these candidates would team up and run together. Plus, this is sort of the era of the group of superheros, there is no longer any solo heroes. Even if there are not other superheros, there are multiple versions of the one primary superhero (Spider-Man for example). For goodness sake, there is a female version of Thor in the new movie-- now is the perfect time for picking ones running mate BEFORE the race starts instead of picking one of the losers who had to drop out early. Popular culture has given us an example and several of us came up potential tickets independent of each other.
