Probably none (at least of the sodomy laws that _Lawrence_ struck down). The prosecution of Lawrence was probably the only instance Texas’s consensual sodomy law had ever been enforced. Check out O’Connor’s concurrence in [Lawrence](http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cgi-bin/getcase.pl?court=US&navby=case&vol=000&invol=02-102).

Mr. Hand

Regarding your link, it is rare that I am moved to express my admiration for the modern American government. But this…

> [@](#):
>
> It must be acknowledged, of course, that the Court in Bowers was making the broader point that for centuries there have been powerful voices to condemn homosexual conduct as immoral. The condemnation has been shaped by religious beliefs, conceptions of right and acceptable behavior, and respect for the traditional family. For many persons these are not trivial concerns but profound and deep convictions accepted as ethical and moral principles to which they aspire and which thus determine the course of their lives. These considerations do not answer the question before us, however. The issue is whether the majority may use the power of the State to enforce these views on the whole society through operation of the criminal law.

…is beautiful, and brings to mind a favorite quote:

“The majority, oppressing an individual, is guilty of a crime, abuses its strength, and by acting on the law of the strongest breaks up the foundations of society.” — Thomas Jefferson, 1816

Just Fridays?

**The Ryan** , you know the rules. Or at least, you’re supposed to by now.

When posting a parody, either indicate what the parody is aimed at, or include a link to the thread you are parodying. Please provide an explanation to your OP forthwith.

“The Ryan, you know the rules.”
So is one of those rules “Moderaters get to lie about posters, and call them weasels when they deny making the statements that the moderators made up”?

"When posting a parody, either indicate what the parody is aimed at, or include a link to the thread you are parodying. "
Are you referring to this rule: “No post parodies without links in the original post”? This isn’t a post parody. Ooh, let me guess. Interpreting words to mean what they actually say is “weaseling”.

I think it’s rather obvious what this parody is aimed at: it’s aimed at the Catholic Church. I even said it was about the Catholic Church in the OP. Do I have to explicitly state “this is a parody of the Catholic Church”? If I had included a link to a Catholic website, would that have made you happy?

Can you eat meat if it’s wrapped in a condom?

You should probably provide a link to wherever it was that happened.

I think all parody threads should contain an explination of the nature of the parody in giant crimson letters, lest any good doper be overcome by confusion. That way, **Coldie** won’t get all worked up. For example:

\*\* WARNING: THIS IS A PARODY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH \*\*

A parody of the Catholic Church, huh, **Ryan**? Boy, that narrows it down. A parody of _Humanae Vitae_? Of the canonization of Pius XII? Of its stances on economic justice issues?

I’m currently working on a parody of the fundamental laws of the universe and every bastard thing that happens as a result of them.

(I’m having trouble finding a suitable metaphor though.

Thank you, **arisu**. I was stuck in a “What the…” loop till I got to your explanation. 🙂

Is **The Ryan** always so cogent, so incisive?

In point of fact, the word “Catholic” isn’t used once in your OP. As for it being “obvious” what the parody was aimed at, the fact that about half the people who read it had no idea what you’re talking about should be a fairly large clue that it was not, in fact, obvious.

**Eddy** , the OP here is a miracle of clarity compared to his usual morasses of space-alien logic and terminally anal semantics. For my money, there isn’t a worse communicator on the board. And I’m including bored script-kiddies on summer vacation posting entirely in leet speak.

Well guess that sucks for me then. I am genuinely in a better mood on Fridays. I have more time on my hands and looking forward to the weekends.

Most of the time Fridays are when I spend the most time in the kitchen making a big meal… Usually with meat!

**Kieras** since the thread title says you shouldn’t “cook meat on Friday” and somebody already suggested Pork Sushi - there’s always Steak Tartar or the recipe I’m working up for Chicken Breast Sashimi.
