??? You believe that a persons screenname, if it has an animal affiliation, is a hint of low self-esteem? That is about as prejudiced as saying that if your name starts with the letter Q that it is a hint that you are homosexual… Just how many people who have names with animal affiliation do you know that have low self-esteem? How about without it? The odds are that their screen name makes no difference. They choose that name due to an understanding of that creature, or similarity of it to themselves. My last name is an animal; I can’t help it. I just got off the phone with a Russian guy whose last name translates into “Chicken” at least we’re real animals, unlike the mythical animal our college chose as a new mascot. . . ---

To pitbulldawg: I always thought pit bulls had an undeserved reputation. I figured it was stupid owners, not vicious dogs that where the root of the problem. About 2 months ago my daughter went to the vet with a cat and came home with a pit bull in addition. (The owner was having it put to sleep for no good reason.) He’s a real smush, so if you had picked pitbulldawg to look tough, you’ld have a hard sell here! (BTW, he’s two years old, this is his third home and apparently, we’re the first ones to train him. Tell me the dogs are the problem) ---

By the way, “Boris B” is the Assyrian word for a certain type of house pet, which was once possible in Mesopotamia. ---

cleosia: Good for you for rescuing a good dog! You’re right, pit bulls aren’t the problem, the owners are! But that pretty much goes for most dogs. My pit is a very sweet affectionate dog and he loves people. Thank gawd he looks scary because I really wander if he would just let someone in and show them where all my stuff is as long as he got some attention out of it. I incorporated “Kat” into my name because: 1.) I love cats 2.) The first three letters of my name are Kat 3.) My dad used to call my Kitty, Kitten, and Kit-Kat 4.) What’s the psychological profile of someone who names themself after religion (be it past or present)? Satan, Athena, Eve… who am I forgetting? I think a serious study should be done in the classification of usernames and a potential common thread per group.
