I hate euphemisms (almost) as much as the next guy. When I was 9, and a whole bunch of morons said to me, of my father, “he’s in a better place,” and “God only takes the good” and shit? Yeah. I couldn’t fathom a “better place” for a father than with his own little kid. I missed him. A lot. When idiots tried to make me feel better by reassuring me that a loving deity had stolen my father, because that deity wanted to hang out? No. I didn’t feel better. But it’s mostly okay in my book if you refer to someone “passing away,” or “going home,” or whatever makes you feel better. Just don’t pull that shit on little kids who haven’t had the time or experience to understand the euphemisms. It’s kinder to say words like dead. ---
