She really is an awesome vet and I was bummed when she gave up her regular practice to go to strictly euth/hospice care with Lap of Love because that meant my healthy critters no longer had their awesome vet for regular care and I only see her in a professional capacity (we’re also friends) when someone’s circling the drain. She had to make the move for her own sanity, though, because being a vet is draining and debilitating and this way she gets to work only with those who know what’s coming and are willing to commit to payment ahead of time. Nobody expects her to save their pet for free and her emotional toll is much less–she sees her work as giving that last great gift to much loved critters and she’s much happier overall. Which is a damning indictment of how we treat vets, really.
She brings the chocolate treats because she figures those dogs have probably been itching to get those yummies all their lives but never were allowed so why not give them an amazing experience right at the last. When it’s my time to go I hope I can find a people doctor as kind and understanding as she is.
