Let me lay it down for you. There is no way in HELL I am going to let my first name, or my spouse’s first name out onto the net. Nor, am I going to let any information out that I know my abusive ex will recall, and be able to use to identify, and cyberstalk/stalk me with. I am reasonably safe, as long as I’m careful, and don’t behave stupidly. He doesn’t know where I live, doesn’t know I’m re-married, has no association of my SDMB name, or the nickname I now go by with me etc. I’d like to keep it this way. There are others, on this message board, who live in more fear than I do, they are being actively stalked (can’t search, so can’t provide a link) and so would NEVER use a real life name on the internet. That’s just handing a stalker information that they WILL use to their advantage. I refer to my husband as the WryGuy. It works with my username, and it’s accurate, too, and do I care if anyone knows my real name? Not really. It’s not exactly the world’s most unique name. (Just to keep things at a fever pitch, I should mention that I frequently think of **Libertarian** as “Libatarian”, because I’ve always got the impression that he’s one of those people whose head squinches up when he hears people say “liebarry” and “Febyoooary” and the idea of his head squinching up makes me giggle.) ---

I generally refer to my partner/spouse as **DrM** or **DrMatrix**. . . occasionally, numbysweetiepoochkins. ---

I have consistently referred to my spouse as The Wife; or occasionally as She Who Must Be Obeyed when I am in a Rumpolian mood. Our daughters, when I feel the need to refer to them at all, had been Thing One and Thing Two for many years (after the regrettable kite incident). Of late they have been the Older Girl and the Younger Girl. If anyone here has a desire to call me by my first name, you can call me “Doc”. The quotes are essential. ---

Do I want to mention her first name? No, for a lot of reasons. Do I want to call her “my wife” every single time I refer to her? Not really. And frankly, I think “my sweetie”, “my honey” or “my sex partner” is even more obnoxious than “the missus.” Do I want to give her a nickname or fake name? Well, only a few people on the board even know me, so how the hell are they supposed to know who this person I’m talking about is? If she decides to post her own stuff, she’ll choose her own username, and I’ll use that. In the meantime, I trust if I use the phrase Mrs. Kunilou, I trust y’all can figure out who I’m talking about. ---

I’ve usually referred to mine as “the hubby” or “my hubby.” Sounds really very cute, which isn’t me at all, which is why I use it. 'Course, this is a message board, so you guys don’t realize I’m making fun of myself. Mr. Dangerosa doesn’t really work for me. Occationally he’s been Mr. 'Rosa (the backup band is, of course, the 'Rosa Household). He’s posting now though - quite a bit. So now, he’s Brainiac4. ---
