I’m glad that I’m not the only one who noticed that. It was remarkably awful.
It’s not jealousy at all.
I can’t carry a tune in a wheelbarrow. The important difference is, I’m not on a CD or on TV trying to convice anyone otherwise.

And I hate people who THINK they can sing and do so, publicly, when you’re out with friends - so embarrassing … “I’m not with that person, honestly!!!”
If you can find it, listen to William Shatner’s solo album The Transformed Man.
It was the album that both of the Shatner songs on Golden Throats were lifted from. It contains 3 other songs performed by ol’ Captain Kirk himself, plus 5 egotistical readings of passages from various Shakespeare plays.
Okay WSLer, you’re on.

Hey! Why are you holding your hands over your ears?
FWIW I studied voice for a few years, and sang in La Traviata and Manon.
I’m not jealous of Eddie Murphy, or his singing (ability?).
WSLer
As I’ve been known to say “I can’t sing real good, but I can sing real loud.” The fact that I can’t sing has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I think The Two Davids can’t sing either and posted this opinion in this thread.
It has nothing to do with them selling CDs either. No one is forced to by CDs from singers they don’t like. And just because I don’t like 'em doesn’t mean no one else will (as evidenced by Uke Ike’s insistance that Bob Dylan can sing.)
And I would like to add for the record that I am not jealous of David Soul or David Hasselhoff. I just do not like their singing voices.
Furthermore-- there have been singers in this thread who I think have perfectly fine singing voices and I suspect they have been included here because the poster just doesn’t like the type of music they sing-- sorta the mirror image of the Bob Dylan thing-- but it would be quite presumptuous of me to roll my eyes at them and tell them that they are just jealous.
But I will tell them I don’t agree with them:
Eddie Murphy-- Weak voice, stupid song but not a horrible singer.
Carol Burnette-- Strong voice. Brassy and mostly played for laughs, but a pretty good singer.
Alanis Morrisette-- Strong, idiosyncratic and that yodel puts a lot of people off, but I absolutely loooove her.
Christine Aguilera has a hella voice! Why she wastes it on some of that material is beyond me. And I liked Genie In A Bottle.
Shakira-- Again a good, strong, distinctive singing voice. I see a female pop singer pattern emerging.
Celine Dion-- See above.
Well I don’t claim to be a fabulous singer, but I do get paid to sing, so I can’t be that bad :).
I’ll let you be the judge of that… Dreamer’s Band
But allow me to note your total babe-ness!
Is there a present or potential Mr Dreamer?
And hurrah for you being inpired by Tori! But are you familiar with the Divine Kate B?
I’d like to point out for the sake of nitpicking that everyone can sing. Most of us just can’t sing well. The real issue here isn’t people who think they can sing (they certainly can), it’s people who think they sing well (most of them cannot).
Just my little nitpick. Please carry on.
Why thank you FriarTed, that is very sweet :). Was there a reason you could not hear my MP3’s?
In answer to your questions, if you scroll down the front page there is a BIO of the band members and if you notice the first two have the same last names. That would be Mr.dreamer and myself :).
Yes, I am also a fan of Kate Bush and am looking forward to her new CD.
Oh my God, Biggirl…my mother was in LOVE with Soul. I remember an album but thankfully my memory fades when the needle hit the vinyl:eek:
I’ve got that one. Burned it from a friend’s copy (he’s got a thing for collecting music that nobody else wants). It’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.
Just couldn’t let the Carol Burnett reference pass without pointing out that years before her eponymous T.V. show, Carol’s career was made on the night of August 6, 1957, when she sang “I Made A Fool of Myself Over John Foster Dulles” on the Jack Paar show. That night she stopped the show and became an instant national celebrity. She subsequently turned the off-Broadway musical “Once Upon A Mattress” into a huge Broadway hit. Then there were the specials in which she sang with Julie Andrews and opera star Beverly Sills. Someone must think she can sing.
And I love “Don’t Give Up On Us Baby”.
Since we have something in common Soup_du_jour, I’m just curious. Are you in a band? What kind of stuff do you sing?
hiya Dreamer! (I haven’t seen any posts from you since before the Board Crash)
I think I need to update my RealPlayer because the file wasn’t connecting in the RealJukebox.
Will check your site for the BIOs.
yeah, it would be great if a Kate Bush album appeared sometime soon- since its been in the works for maybe 10 years! L Tori is releasing another next month!
Are you familiar with a 1960’s song by Lee Hazelwood & Nancy Sinatra, covered by Goth rocker Lydia Lunch- SOME VELVET MORNING ?
Nope, never heard that song. Maybe I’ll look it up in my file-sharing system :).
Can’t wait for Tori’s new CD, I was pretty disappointed with her last release. I’ve been a fan of hers since the beginning and have met her quite a few times as well. Have you heard her in “Y Kant Tori Read”?
Let me know if you can hear my MP3’s and what you think. No one has ever commented on my voice, though I’ve shared my cite many times so maybe you’ll be the first :D.
never have heard Y Kant; I’m hoping that maybe as Tori gets older, she loosens up about that & re-releases it. Strange Little Girls was rather odd- my least favorite of her albums tho I liked it better the second time I listened to it. Still, when I’m in a Tori mood, I’ll generally reply LI’L E’QUAKES.
If I can ever get the MP3’s loaded, I sure will
