People who've saved a life (or several) directly

Given where they were, were they thankful?

My grandfather in the 70’s? Saved a man’s life via the CPR he had learned as part of his job as a lineman it was somebody that had a heart attack I believe out where he was working. This was in the day before cell phones and he had to give the guy chest compressions and breaths all the way to the hospital. He was given some kind of award.

2 of them were back when I was in private practice. I did work in that sector for 19 years.

The ones I had followup with personally were grateful.

How famous am I? Gave my roommate the Heimlich once.

Wandered into the kitchen, and was frankly a bit dismayed to see her. We had been bickering and I was hoping to avoid her ass. She was standing idly and making this weird choking sound. Without any conscious thought** I stepped forward, grabbed her around the waist, squoze her tummy *** and something red & hard that I’d later learn was a cough drop shot fast outta her mouth and pinged off the edge of the sink.

I turned around and walked away silently, at which point it gradually dawned on both of us what had happened.
** thank all the gods, too, or I would have begun overthinking, or panicking

*** that was a word from my late Other Shoe. You may borrow it if you like; it’s useful. Past pluperfect of “squeeze” and pronounced to rhyme with goes.

There’s a song about the night Bernie Taupin saved a life.

Well I saved 2 lives on my shift last night. I’m not famous though.
