Really? After all these years I now have to go find a new favourite last line to a movie because some minor characters couldn’t stop chattering? This sucks. AND I thought it was one of those rare movies where the last line was also the title of the movie. Ah well - thanks for letting me know. Ignorance (and cloth ears) fought.

It is nitpicking of my part there, as it is the penultimate line.

**Hot Shots** , whose credits also included such things as a recipe for brownies.
Also, IIRC, the last line of **RoboCop** is:
“My friends call me Murphy. You can call me… RoboCop.”
Although now that I type it, it mighta been RoboCop 3.😕
I’m sure someone has mentioned **War of Honor** by David Weber, but I’m gonna say it again:
“Goodbye, Citizen Commissioner.”🆒
I was about to throw in Neil Patrick Harris’s monologue at the end of StarShip Troopers, except that wasn’t the last line. In fact, Johhny, Zim, AND the propaganda narrator all had lines afterwards which weren’t nearly as cool.
From the TV show **Due South** , there’s a great ending monologue, but it’s a bit long, so I’ll cut out everything except for the last and best bit:
“…and off we went to find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea and if we do find his hand, the reaching out one, we’ll let you know.”

My favourite from amongst many by Hemingway is the end of his short story My Old Man:
And George Gardner looked at me to see if I’d heard and I had all right and he said, “Don’t you listen to what those bums said, Joe. Your old man was one swell guy.”
But I don’t know. Seems like when they get started they don’t leave a guy nothing.

My absolute favorite was technically the second last line of the final monologue, and every time I hear that monologue, I still get a bit misty, even almost a decade later …
“Mostly though, it gave us hope that there can always be new beginnings … even for people like us.”
The actual last line was: “And as for Delenn, every morning, for as long as she lived, she got up before dawn and watched the sun come up”
