I’ve been watching **The Detectorists** for probably the third time and I’ve come to realize that it’s the best TV series I’ve ever seen. Gently to laugh out loud humorous and brilliantly written, acted and directed. And that theme song hits you right in the feels.

Not an Emmy, but the show did win some other awards:

> **[The Middle (TV series) | Awards and nominations](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Middle_(TV_series)#Awards_and_nominations)**
>
> In 2011, The Middle received a Gracie Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. The 1st Critics' Choice Television Awards nominated the series for Best Comedy Series, Patricia Heaton for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, and Eden Sher for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Eden has a youtube presence, talking about The Middle/Sue Sue in the City (with Brock) and her twin girls (among other things) Although she is not Sue, there is a lot of Sue in Eden – I find her generally delightful.

Yep, she and Brock Ciarlelli (Brad) have a podcast, and they put the episodes on YouTube a few months after the podcast episodes drop.

I laughed at her videos where she’s on her comedy tour, standing next to a bench with the phrase I WAS ON A SITCOM and her picture. And nobody recognizes her or approaches her. She was sad but not surprised. Frankly, I thought the kids were the best parts of the show.

I felt the final special episode they did ruined it a bit.

> Loved the original series. Hated the TV movie they made later. Well, maybe not _hated_, but it was disappointing.

Oddly enough, I’ve felt the same way about _Emergency!_– the series in and of itself was great (the original 1972-77 run on NBC), but the movies lacked some of the quality (to be honest, they were okay enough for me to finish the all-in-one DVD; my favorite one was that _Greatest Rescues of Emergency!_ [OAD Sunday, December 31, 1978 on NBC]).
