I beliive you’re a Brit so you may not have had the opportunity … Our History Channel puts out a series called “Modern Marvels”. [http://www.history.com/content/modernmarvels](http://www.history.com/content/modernmarvels) . These are one hour shows about interesting practical technology. The writing is pitched to people with the minds of 12 year olds (e.g. typical adult Americans), but often the pictures are pretty cool; you get to “visit” a lot of places you’d never get a chance to in real life. There are lots of episodes on food factories. Almost all include pix like you show. Not all that surprising. Hot dog filling is meat/protein goo. So is some burger & some things you’d think are real meat, like most lunch meat. The fact millions of people eat it every day and aren’t promptly dying indicates it isn’t really all that dangerous. Unappetizing to watch, but that’s been true of sausage making since 5000 BC. ---

I thought it was strawberry icecream, hah. Meh, it’s still weird to think you’re eating a dead carcass, but heck if it tastes good that’s fine by me. However, I don’t think I’d ever want to see pictures of someone making scrapple, I love the stuff and probably wouldn’t want to see a giant vat of pig eye and anus. ---

It’s something that looks like strawberry soft-serve, but isn’t. The picture isn’t the disgusting part, the OP thinks the actual food product in that FORM is disgusting. It’s not bad-looking, truly. Click away. ---

I’m not sure I believe it. Look to the right of the stuff and you’ll see another box with this stuff in it. Why would they be putting it into cardboard boxes? Why is it homogeneously pink? I don’t believe the caption. I think it is in fact C) Plastic foam. ---

I saw a documentary that covered the manufacture of cheap chicken ‘nuggets’ - the raw material was mechanically processed chicken and it arrived in big frozen blocks packed in boxes, however, it was a wrapped block inside the box (I think probably poured into a bag lining the box, then frozen). I’ve seen goatse, and I’ve seen tubgirl. I’ve even browsed [rotten.com](http://rotten.com) and similar sites in the past. I don’t think any of those comes close to the thought of animal bones being forced through a high-pressure sieve to remove every last bit of meat, fat and cartilage to create a fluourescent pink goo supposedly for human consumption. The fact that the process is banned for use on cattle bones, as it was implicated in passing BSE between species, is enough to sicken anybody. ---
