Permanent resident but not citizen:why?

There have been some attempts in Canada by republicans to challenge the Oath of Citizenship, which includes a statement of allegiance to the Queen of Canada, but they have been unsuccessful, being dismissed by the courts. Plaintiffs have included permanent residents who had refused to apply for citizenship because of the Oath.

I’m a long time permanent resident of Australia but have not become a citizen because I don’t feel like an Australian. I live here because ailing / aging relatives rely on me. If not for that I would go back to the UK.

theres nothing wrong of becoming a citizen of another country … ( it has its pros and cons )

some countries, like germany and austria only accepts one nationality, theirs. you would have to renounce your citizenship of that other country … =/
