Let me ask if this is at least reasonable if not accurate. - The current Bush/Cheney administration through the offices of the executive branch did give No-Bid contracts to Haliburton. - Cheney is a very influential and powerful VP, probably the most powerful since Nixon under Ike. - Cheney was the CEO of Haliburton until he stepped down to run as Bush’s running mate. - Many people (inaccurately) do associate companies with powerful and well known CEO’s If you can accept these statements then my Jokingly saying “Did he give more no bids to Haliburton?” could be taken as a not unreasonable joke at his expense. Is my logic at all reasonable to you? It really was not a silly joke but I think it passes a reasonableness test. Jim ---

I understand your skewed world-view, but sometimes it’s best to hire the best firm for the job. Out of curiosity, can you tell me the last time Cheney cast a vote in any stockholder meeting? Any executive meeting? Anything that involces the workings of Halliburton? If so, that’s how you get him. Not by railing on anything and everything he does or you think he does. I know, I know, he used to be CEO. When he isn’t VP he’ll also be the former CEO. So it could be argued (as I’m sure you will in a couple years) that he’ll use his former VP position to get no-bid contracts for Halliburton. How many politicians have either been business leaders before getting elected, or became businessmen after leaving office? Based on your paranoia, every one of them must be crooked. Everything is suspect they do. Would you support a rule that anyone involved in politics or business cannot be associated with the other, ever? That’s the only way to clear this suspicion up. **Nine** , sorry for the continued hijack. But as you’ll learn, even a Pit thread about someone that gets ripped off by a mechanic will, more often than not, turn into one of these diatribes about the current Administration. It becomes a bit predicatable and at times tedious, but sometimes it comes from so far out of left field you can’t help yourself sitting back in awe. This has been a fun learning curve. As far as I can see, my post hasn’t fought any ignorance; was completely pointless; thereby setting myself up as that most hated Dope creature: a jerk; and I’ve already been (gently) cautioned by a mod. Ah well! Start as you mean to go on, I always say. 😃 ---
