I heard of this a few days ago, although [this](http://www.kspr.com/news/local/kspr-3000-pair-of-panties-dumped-along-ohio-roadway-20110901,0,4089405.story) older story I saw on another forum claimed it was over 3000. Perhaps they overcounted due to panty-panic. ---

Odd story. Am i the only person who gets somewhat creeped out by adults (and journalists) using the word “panties”? It’s such an infantilizing term. ---

Preposterous! ---

It’s fascinating to find out what you adult and mature men think of us childish women and our silly euphemisms, though. Back on topic, the thing I find most amusing about this story is that they had an exact count on the Feminine Crotch Restraint Units. I am guessing that is not how someone thought they were going to spend their Monday. ---

I’m not going on the warpath about it or anything, but to me it feels somewhat slangy, and not appropriate for use in a news publication. “Underpants” would be fine. ---

I really like the term “feminine crotch restraint device”. I’m going to try and use it in a serious sentence. I’ll try and get a picture of the dumbfounded looks that I’ll be surrounded by and if possible I’ll get a video of someone say “Why don’t you just say ‘panties’?”. ---
