Yes, apparently his lack of abilities with people is what kept him out of the Vienna Academy. They supposedly recognized his skill with landscapes and architecture, but that wasn’t what they were looking for. (I’m no expert in art history or Hitler - I just killed some time looking at some of the sites associated with the images.)
