Does anybody out there have any movies that have become personal cult films----I mean one that you have watched so many times, you can quote large sections of the dialogue by heart? (You have to have seen them at least eight times to qualify.)

Mine are _Zulu_ (1964); _Zulu Dawn_ (1979); _The Battle of Britain_ (1969); _Nosferatu_ (1922); and _Vampyr_ (1932). Love those movies!

_Annie_ - For some bizarre reason, we watched this every…single…day for quite some time after it came out on video. Happened across it on my sister’s cable a couple weeks ago and we could still recite the dialogue with the actors.
_Once Bitten_ - We joked that it was “our new _Annie_”.
the _Lethal Weapon_ movies
_Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade_
_Ghost_

_Fandango_: Not a great movie, but my personal favorite.

_Pump Up the Volume_: A film tailor-made for Christian Slater. Why couldn’t I meet any girls like Samantha Mathis when I was in high school?

and of course several obvious ones…
_Pink Floyd, The Wall
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Monty Python and The Holy Grail
UHF
2001: A Space Odyssey_
and so on…

Okay Slythe, I’m thinking we are twins separated at birth or something… I don’t even KNOW anyone who’s seen Buckaroo Bonzai, let alone gotten into it! Wow, made my day (night, whatever) and Manos… you Mystie you! Tell me, do you know Firesign Theater? If you say yes then I will swoon!

I also have to echo Mr.Know on UHF… Weird Al, oh be still my throbbing heart. I LOVE that movie!

Also:

Airplaine
Amazon women on the moon
Army of Darkness (or any of the three in this series)
Highlander (secret obession due to the name on this one!)

Wow! Glad I checked in this late! Gotta post a new topic just to see how many other folks know some of my favs!

This isn’t something I’m proud of but there are some movies I just have to watch if I come across them on TV:

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Monster Zero
Battle of the Bulge
Midway
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
The Producers
The Daydreamer
Sink the Bismark!
Munster Go Home
Voyage Beyond Space (or something like that. It’s about Johnny Socko and his giant robot)
The Naked Jungle
The Time Machine
When World’s Collide
Doc Savage
(Yeah, I know the last 4 are all George Pal movies.)

When I watch these movies I somehow connect to my childhood. Pure nostalgia!

Well, of course there are the ones everyone’s seen a million times:
Rocky Horror, The Wall, Heavy Metal, American Pop, The Meaning of Life

Otherwise, mine are all fairly new…
Clueless
W. Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet
So I Married an Axe Murderer
Tank Girl
French Kiss
Ever After
SpiceWorld (flame away)
Heathers
Boogie Nights
Wayne’s World (1&2)

…and so on… (I love to laugh)

Rock Horror, Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Princess Bride, Heathers

And some not so common ones…
Tombstone
Last of the Mohicans
The Saint
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (And no, I’m not proud of this one…)

Zulu, unquestionably (“Still, I’d rather you asked…old boy.”)

Buckaroo: didn’t John Lithgow walk away with all the best lines? (“Laugh while you can, monkey boy!”)

Casino Royale, Wonka, the Producers (“Zis isn’t working. I’m not killing you.”)

Local Hero, Comfort and Joy, Privates on Parade (“Special fookin’ kit, I mean.”), How I Won the War (John Lennon) (“I never liked our officer. Some would call him weedy. I did.”), Oh What a Lovely War, The Wooden Horse, The Great Escape, Kelly’s Heroes (“Always with the negative waves, Moriarty!”), Dr Strangelove, The party (Peter Sellers) (“Birdie num-nums!”), The Horses’ Mouth, the first 4 Marx Bros movies, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains, and of course Spinal Tap.

Based on the qualifications in the OP, first choice would be “A Hard Day’s Night.” I’ve seen it more than 25 times, and my wife and I can quote entire scenes from memory at will. Also “The Caine Mutiny” and all the “Star Wars” movies.

Hmmm, problem is, I don’t really watch movies any more…to…simplistic or not in line with my tastes. That said, the movies I have loved:

**Buckaroo Bonzai** (You do know they are making a tv series, right?)
**Watership Down** (Beautiful animation, great story.)
**Something Funny happened on the way to the forum.**
**Star Wars**
**Raiders of the Lost Ark.**
**Bladerunner** (Both versions)
**Guns of Navarone**

Those are the greats.

My sister and I made “Revenge of the Nerds” and “Cloak and Dagger” into cult movies when we were still in elementary school. We even acted out all of the scenes. We watched every showing of those movies one summer when we had all the pay movie stations on TV. Pretty bizzarre. I don’t know what we saw in those movies really. Later, several of my Rocky Horror friends tried to make “The People Under The Stairs” into a cult film. We went to see it three or more times a week and even dressed up as the characters… or came sporting the Rider Waite Tarot Deck with the Fool in prominent display. We even had sub-dialogue. This irritated other people to no end especially when they would start chomping on corpses and we would all yell, “YUM!” and then start chewing up ice cubes real loud. It was so much fun.

HUGS!

It took like 17 posts for someone to mention the best movie ever and my personal favorite.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The first time I rented it I watched it like four times that day. I have seen it countless times and it never gets old.

Another favorite is the Princess Bride.
