Growing up in Southern AZ (25 years of hell) I know what “water restriction” means all too well. I think it is hugely wasteful for restaurants to automatically put water on the tables, and it bothers me every time I see it.
On the subject of giving out water, however, I guess AZ is different. There it was illegal to refuse to give someone water. For ANYONE to refuse. If someone came to your door asking for water, you were legally obliged to do so.
Jvan: Bite me. Don’t tell ME to get a clue, asshole. I HATE Arizona, and I have said for YEARS AND YEARS that it is overpopulated for the water supply. I didn’t live there by choice, moron, I was BORN there. I moved away as soon as I had the opportunity.
Melin, come on down to Florida. Oh, and bring some buckets. You can have our water. It falls out of the sky at a rate of up to 2 inches per day. The streets have permanent puddles - it’s never dry enough for them to totally evaporate. There is water everywhere. We wash our cars 3 times a day just to get rid of the damn stuff. I have great teeth, because all the soda is so diluted, it’s basically plain water.
Actually, there are loads of diners around here. I got food poisoning TWICE (that’s twice) in local diners. Closest to death I’ve ever wanted to be. Never had a problem at McDonalds. When my husband and I travel, he looks for diners, but I always eat somewhere familar first, then just have coffee with him at the diner.
I know you never can tell, but now I’m just too wary to eat at those places.
