I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now… This is Mario. [![](https://i.imgur.com/buu49EE.jpeg) ](https://i.imgur.com/buu49EE.jpeg) We got him in April from a rescue organization. He came with the name Mario. We soon discovered that he is aptly named, for his jumping skills are unparalleled. Mario was living on the streets, and got caught up in a feral trap, one of those catch-fix-release operations. He was taken to a vet and snipped, and they even notched his ear. But it soon became apparent that he wasn’t feral. He was not afraid of people, and was even seeking attention. He knew how to use the litter box. And so on. So rather than being dumped back on the streets, he was put into the adoption pool. He was pretty scrawny when we got him, but we’ve managed to fatten him up a bit. He still acts like every meal will be his last, but he’s slowly starting to calm down a bit. He often lets me know when it’s meal time: [![](https://i.imgur.com/PPGnrZD.jpeg) ](https://i.imgur.com/PPGnrZD.jpeg) Like most cats, he loves to squirrel himself into small spaces… [![](https://i.imgur.com/BhgUJPZ.jpeg) ](https://i.imgur.com/BhgUJPZ.jpeg) A few days ago I went to grab the laundry bucket to do a load, and thought “why is this so heavy?” Mario was most displeased over being disturbed. [![](https://i.imgur.com/REYls4V.jpeg) ](https://i.imgur.com/REYls4V.jpeg) This is a common site in our bedroom in the afternoon. Mario is in the rear up on the pillows. Left front is Ophelia, and right front is Irving. [![](https://i.imgur.com/Mm3ZJJQ.jpeg) ](https://i.imgur.com/Mm3ZJJQ.jpeg) ---

Good cat names! Irving is particularly funny for some reason. 😄 ---

Irving and Ophelia came to us with those names as well. How could we not keep such cool names? ---

Years ago, I had a yellow cat who was, I’ll just say, very definitely not mellow. He loved me, but he scratched even me up with some frequency. I also had a farm intern living here. One day I asked her to fetch the laundry basket. She reappeared shortly without the basket and said “Um, there’s a problem.” I said “Is there a yellow cat asleep in the basket?” She said, “That’s not the problem. The problem is that there’s a yellow cat awake in the basket. He growled at me.” I couldn’t blame her in the least for backing off. ---

Summer’s position on the couch is always, always against the back cushion. She’s the oldest and rules the roost. When Seven, in a bit of defiance, refused to move, Summer just laid down on top of her. This lasted only 5 minutes or so until Seven gave up. Summer undefeated. 😸 [![](https://i.imgur.com/CsP3ALB.jpeg) ](https://i.imgur.com/CsP3ALB.jpeg) ---

The leather chair was Shanni’s chair. Until Luc decided he wanted to sleep there, too. So, he climbed up and gradually muscled Shanni over until she ended up completely on the the arm (this pic is just before that). ---

Yeah, you’d think with dogs whose hair is basically millions of eyelashes you wouldn’t have much fur accumulation. But, nope. ---
