For some odd reason, I’m thinking of my grandparents’ cat that lived on their farm property in New Hampsphire, the one that repelled an invading dog by slashing its face and then riding its back as it fled down the driveway. ---

I suspect that most dogs (not all, but) that go bad get made that way by crappy and/or incompetent humans. ---

That cat has probably had the best life and care. So she is around seventeen. My cat is eighteen. ---

The most obvious examples of badly behaved dogs are due to mistreatment by their owners, but more subtle examples are breeding entirely for appearance without regard for behavioural characteristics, which might propagate genetic disorders in favour of a nice pattern of fur colouring. ---

Sadly, bad breeding for extremes has also afflicted the cat and horse world, primarily in animals bred for showing. I could rant for pages and pages… ---

Yes, he got caught in a trap. Apparently he was running with a colony of ferals, but while at the vet he was seeking attention from people, knew how to use the litter box, and so on. They realized he wasn’t feral, so they put him in the adoption pool rather than releasing him. So, so lucky for us! ---

Usually Schooner would grab that spot, lying on his back, butt to the chair back, smiling up at me. But this time Peanut got there first, so Schooner curled up on top of him.
