Very sad news - a great actor (when Spielberg describes you as the ‘bestactor in the world’, you know you’re not messing about) and great guy, very unique in that classy English way. Had the ability to make you remember his performances effortlessly, hence why my username is a transparent nod to his performance in The Usual Suspects. Rest in peace, big guy - you’ll be missed.

That is the role I will remember him for. He took one of the most evil characters ever to appear in a novel and brought him to life.
Such sad news. He was an excellent actor, and he seemed like a good person as well. I loved him in Brassed Off, but I don’t think I ever saw a performance of his that I didn’t like.
