I have great respect for Qadgop, but in that case, that’s not a choice I woulda made, for the reasons I’ve given here: it’s an example of dehumanizing humor, and while some folks are okay with it and don’t take it personally, others do. ---

The movie [Sydney White](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_White) was a Snow White take-off in which the Dwarf-equivalent characters were ordinary-sized men who simply were unpopular in college. (As I understand it, the title was originally supposed to be “Sydney White and the Seven Dorks.”) ---

Obviously the solution herre is to just completely go in the other direction. The Seven Dwarfs should not be dwarfs at all; they should just be seven brothers whose last name happens to be “Dwarf,” so you’ll have Michael Dwarf, Antonio Dwarf, etc. In fact, not only should they not be dwarfs, they should be the most handsome and shredded celebrities money can buy. I’m talking guys like Chris Hemsworth, Simu Liu, and other men who clearly live in the gym. The only exception is that one of the Dwarf brothers should be Snoop Dwarf, played by Snoop (who is, at least, very tall) because honestly it would be great if Snow White was high as fuck for the entire film. The Dwarfs should be shirtless (except for Snoop) the entire movie and should work as male exotic dancers by night and personal trainers by day. “Heigh Ho” can be reworked by Snoop in hip hop form as “High Ho,” to which the other guys do a Magic Mike routine. When the prince shows up and wakes up Snow White, she should take one look at him - a solid 7, maybe, played by a guy like Colin Jost - and then look at the Dwarf brothers, smile knowingly, and say “Nah, I’m good.” Also throw in a few car chases and a gunfight. ---

Which was, apparently, a real thing back in the early 20th century, when the film is set. The film does a decent job of humanizing the dwarfs, though, and the tension between enjoying the limelight of being a performer, while being aware that the audience is mostly laughing at you, and not with you, is a minor theme. ---

It’s not about the title, it’s not about some misinterpretation of the English language, it is about the way people with a disability are portrayed in the movie. You are hanging on this “live in a cave” thing way too hard, especially when you yourself had a similar slip of the tongue when you falsely claimed that Dinklage said that they live in a mine. It’s not where they lived that is at issue here, it is the way that they are portrayed, and nothing that you said in this post addresses that in the slightest. ---

This is almost the same line taken with Apu. And I, as a white male, was completely dismissive as well. “It’s obviously a joke, right? It’s just a cartoon! Nobody takes it seriously. Apu is hard-working and a good father. He’s basically the best person on the show morally!”. Then my Indian-American wife and BiL both pointed out that they were constantly mocked with the “Apu Voice” and told “Thank You, Come Again”. It’s demeaning, annoying, and dehumanizing. So I was wrong. Completely and utterly wrong. I can absolutely imagine that Dinklage (and others) has been called “Grumpy” or asked “Where’s Snow White?” or whatever so many times in their lives it’s no wonder he’s pissed about it.
