# Peter Gunn Jazz xylophone

The group that plays at Mother’s has a xylophone. I don’t recall hearing one in Jazz.  
Was that popular in the second half of the 1950’s?

Was it a [Vibraphone](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vibraphone)?

It seems the use of Vibraphones and Xylophones goes back to the early days of jazz.
