There have been plenty of phallic and yonic monsters in SF film. The H.R. Giger-inspired _Alien_ is definitely phallic, and _Predator_ has that vertical yonic mouth, which makes the _Alien vs. Predator_ films distinctly sexual. But they were beaten to the punch by a pair of outrageously sexual phallic and yonic aliens fighting in the 1960 film **Battle Beyond the Sun**. This movie started life as a Russian space film. Roger Corman got hold of it, recut it and added scenes. One scene added – By Francis Ford Coppola! – was a fight between two more than vaguely sexual monsters. I’m amazed they got this past the censors. When I first saw these scenes (for no good reason, Corman used them behind the credits for his first remake of **Not of this Earth** – the Traci Lords 1988 version) I almost lost it. For what it’s worth, the female equivalent to phallic is “yonic.” Maude Lebowski would approve of calling it vaginal, though. I think a lot of depictions of Lovecraftian monsters have some of both. This also includes monsters and aliens from various horror movies. In Stranger Things, the monster is basically a vagina faced demon. And it’s drawn to blood. Paging Freud. ---

I never understood that reaction to the logo. Sure, the T is going through the P so there’s penetration of sorts… and, yes, Pence is getting screwed on this partnership… but neither letter looks much like a sexual organ. It’s like another poster said - if anything vaguely long and anything vaguely round are going to be called sexual imagery, we’ve gone too far. ---
