The millpond outside my office window is festooned with about 35 waterspouts. These were apparently put in to cool the water down after it was drawn from the pond and used for cooling the Power Plant water several years ago. (They haven’t been turned on in the time I’ve been here, by the way). What gets me is that the things are so damned _phallic_! Not only do they stand at an erect angle, but the girth-to-length ratio is about right, as well. Finally, they have a differently-colored top that is slightly larger, like a _glans_, and they even have a hex-nut _corona_. When these things were running, they must have been unusually suggestive. Why the heck would anyone design a system like this? Don’t believe me?
