They have gone so far as too say they are the “only true heirs to all the apostles, prophets, and martyrs that have ever lived.” But he seems to have it particularly bad for churches with a formal, liturgical format. I saw on his web site, which I will not dignify with a link, that he prefers the term “faggot” because of the actual non-slang meaning of the word: a large torch. Apparently his reasoning is that “faggot” in its slang/pejoritive meaning is appropriate because of the “flaming” affront to good morals and decency which he says that gays represent. Maybe he also uses this reasoning to argue that gays should be “put out”. ---

\*\*particlewill, \*\* I’m bumping this up because I just saw, on Fred’s website, that they are still saying they will be in Fargo on November 2nd and 3rd. I thought maybe they would let it slide, because sometimes they make a lot of noise about going somewhere to picket, and then find excuses not to show up, or hope folks forget they said they would be there. If you can find out which churches he will picket could you let me know, here or by email? ---

Hey, reports about the murder of Eddie/Lida Araujo are mentioning in passing that [Phelps is planning to picket the funeral](http://www.trivalleyherald.com/Stories/0,1413,86%257E10669%257E935832,00.html) in Newark. I’m thinking it might be a good idea to infiltrate his “congregation” and convince them that D.C. has an affirmative-action type program for homosexuals with regard to employment as gas-station and parking-lot attendants. And maybe suggesting a new religious icon: “Look Fred-- the queers use a triangle for their symbol. Let’s start with a glyph that has _no angles_– I dunno, maybe a series of concentric circles… and then we can superimpose a _cross_ over it. I’ll print the shirts up right away. Gas the bus up! We’re goin’ to Virginia!” Sorry. I’m in a dark mood. ---

The local Media has been silent so far as to Phelpsies itinary. I will look into it. The really funny thing about all this is that the offices of the United Way here are less than a block up the street from the Boy Scouts regional office. They are actualy almost next door. I wonder if the BSA appreciates ol Phelps coming here on their behalf. ---

Just saw some stock footage of what I assume were members of Phelps’s congregation on the local news, as part of a report on his threat to show up for Gwen Araujo’s funeral. One of the pinheads was waving a sign that said “FAG GOD = RECTUM,” plus some small print that I couldn’t read. I don’t like to minimize Phelps and his ilk, because I do think they’re genuinely dangerous, but damn, sometimes it’s hard to take these people seriously. I also wonder what that small print says. Legal disclaimer? List of ingredients? Contains 2000% of your USDA recommended daily idiocy supplements? This is going to bug me all night. Or, at least until I find something shiny to distract myself with. ---

\*\*Miller, \*\* the fine print was probably a Scriptural notation. I’ve seen enough of their signs, living here in Topeka as I do, to know. But since there is no such words in the Bible as were on the sign, it’s obviously a false notation, a deliberate misrepresentation. For example, there was one sign that said “Fags doom nations” and the small print Scriptural reference was Genesis 19.
