I am currently stationed in Camden, NJ with my Americorps team (I know, I know, lucky me) and I will be in the Philadelphia area until early May. Is anyone up for a Philly Dopefest? The only possible days for me are Sunday and Monday, and I would rather it be during the daylight hours, as I really, really don’t want to be coming back to Camden after dark. As for where and what, I’m open to suggestions from locals. ---

Sure! If it’s going to be a daytime thing, Sunday is better for most people – maybe a lunch in Center City somewhere, so you can come over on PATCO. Other than the last weekend in April, I’m going to be around – anyone who wants to come have a preference as to dates? ---

Actually, a daylight dinner may be doable; the sun isn’t setting till about 7 PM these days, and it will get later still as we get into April. One Sunday a month I have a book discussion group. The March date is not yet fixed, but the discussion will be in Center City and start at 2 PM, so may fit around lunch or dinner. The April discussion is tentatively April 26, when **twickster** will be out of town. May 3 I will be out of town. Other Sundays, and all Mondays, I should be free. ---

Cool – let’s start throwing out some dates. March 22 March 29 April 5 April 12 (Easter, I assume that’s bad for people) April 19 Who definitely **can’t** do one of those? Who as a strong preference **in favor of** one of those? ---

I def. can’t do March 22 or 29. I would strongly prefer April 19. Any Sunday after that would be great too. ---

Ok…I am committing to this one. I live so fricking close to Philly that it’s ridiculous not to have made it to one of these already. So, I’m making it a point to be there for this one. From the dates listed, 3/29 and 4/19 work for me. ---

I say let’s go for April 19th. If it turns out I can’t come, there’s no reason why everyone else can’t get together. But please, **during the day**. Camden is extremely dangerous, and I don’t like standing in my front yard in broad daylight, much less hanging around the train station at dusk waiting for my ride. Sightseeing, lunch, whatever’s good. ---

**Olives** , if you an el marido can make it on April 19th, we’ll call that the official date (and ask a mod to fix the thread title). Let’s do lunch in Old City, then if people want to wander around the historic district for a bit in the afternoon – Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin’s house and grave, etc. – I’d be happy to be tour guide for that. There’s also a good used book store down there. People who have More Important Things To Do can take off immediately after lunch. ---

once again i’m laughing my fool head off. on your list of dates twickster, you seem to have forgotten that april 19th is pascha for the orthodox types. i know… i know… everyone thinks the holidays are over and here come those julian calendar types, with their holiday rules. someday the planets, holidays, and calendars will collide. be afraid. be very, very, afraid. ---

Take it up with the Sierra Club – they do my desk calendar, which has absolutely nothing listed on the 19th. Guess any orthodox Dopers will be unable to join us. At this point, given that the guest of honor and the other temporary resident, **Daphne Black** , can both do it, I say let’s nail down April 19th as the official date. ---

I’d feel much worse about if if I thought there was an actual chance you’d’ve come – but since you haven’t been to any of the D-fests I’ve been to in the last … three years? four? … I am feeling moderately guilt-free. ---
