# Phone finder and Google Play Services

I have an old Android and, when Google Play Services is turned on, the battery drains pretty quickly. Unless I’m mistaken, the only way to use the phone finder function is to have Google Play Services turned on. Am I correct in this thinking or is there a way to find a misplaced phone without it?
