How about “pr0n”? I first assumed it was simply the doper way to spell “porn”, but apparently its usage isn’t limited to these boards. Or adult material.
The same goes for “Og”… who/what the heck is Og and where’d it come from?

Is slogging the same thing as shagging? Is it something you’d say in front of your mother, or strictly girl talk?

> How about “pr0n”?

Pr0n is a way of munging (obscuring) the word porn on a newsgroup or message board. It is done with the intent to avoid userid harvesters who will grab IDs that have mentioned porn and spam them with ads for the same. In addition, some message boards use nanny monitor software that will substitute asterisks or inane phrases for “improper” words. “Pr0n” gets passed that software, letter one’s message be posted without interference, while still conveying the original intent.

Og showed up in a post many months back when someone typed “og God” instead of “of God,” resulting in several references through the rest of the thread to the “god Og.” I’ve lost the link to the thread.

You’ll occasionally still see someone refer to Og facetiously.

In my part of Scotland, “tool” is slang for penis and so can be used interchangeably with “prick” or “dick” in slagging a male. It also carries an undercurrent of uselessness.

(Might be very local slang though. Round these parts, no-one would look at you twice if you asked for a swig of someone’s Diet coke with the words “Geez a slug o’ yer juice, will ye?” whereas in Glasgow, 40 miles to the West, you would have to change that to “Geez a wee tait o’ yer ginger, pal?” or be met with utter incomprehension. It always amazes me that Scots have such a good record of emigration. How does anyone ever understand us? 🙂 )

No…it was a common term for the penis in Victorian writing, actually. I guess now it’d be considered an old-fashioned term in many places, but understandable to many.

Tool == penis is still very much alive around here, but the context has to demand that interpretation. It’s nowhere near as dirty as dick or cock, which really have almost no other intepretation.

(There’s also a band named Tool (or TooL, judging from local graffiti). I don’t know what that has to do with it.)

To be more precise about the origins of Og, it started in a thread where the OP was mercilessly deriding Christians as being brainwashed morons cluelessly following meaningless ritual. The OPer spelled ‘of’ as ‘og’ more times than seemed usual given `normal’ rates of typo production, so much that it stuck out and was used by some local wags as the name of a stone-age caveman deity. I think the first usage in that context was “OG SMASH!”

**guava** : Where I’m from, `slogging’ simply means to move slowly through a sticky, wet mess. You would slog through gumbo, which is thick, sticky, slippery mud (as opposed to being a thick, rich, spicy stew, as it is in the American South). I’ve never heard it being used as a term for sexual intercourse.

boo yaa, as i always understood it was a reference to a shotgun blast. theres some hip hop or films, i forget which, where they refer to it as “im gonna boo yaa his ass”, or something like that. same goes for booyakasha! used in popular slang its like, say a gun salute. see jackie brown: when pam grier slides the bag to bridget fonda she goes “i put a cherry on top (refering to a bit of extra money for bridget) boo yaa!”
similar to the explanation of ‘word!’ i think.
im of the belief that ‘Blau!’ is more common now, as ali Gs made booyakasha/boo yah a bit too white bread passe. or ‘Bam!’

thats we say anyway. in my white bread workplace and drinking haunts. hope that makes sense you.

I’ve been wondering about:

I’ve seen a phrase being used recently; **BODY SHOT**. Couldn’t tell from context.

Also, this is going back a ways and I hadn’t heard it often, but the word **CHOAD** , which I think is another term for penis.

Similarly, I’ve seen the word **HELMET** used which connotes a sexual context, either a synonym for penis or oral sex.

Any comments?

Body Shot is when vodka, whiskey, or some other hard shot of liquor is poured in a girl’s stomach and a guy drinks it out of her stomach.

A circumcised penis basically looks like a helmet for the rest of it, simple as that.

Two fairly recent ones I’ve been out of the loop on:

“Show me the money!” and “Who’s your daddy?” I don’t know where either of these originated and in what context they are used in every conversation.

“Show me the money!” was the phrase Cuba Gooding Jr. repeated over and over to his agent, Tom Cruise, in _Jerry Maguire_. It’s the only really funny scene in an otherwise crappy movie.

I first saw the term “boo-ya” (or however you want to spell it) in a Rolling Stone article published in the late '80s/early '90s about gangs. The article described kids pointing their fingers like guns and saying “boo-ya” instead of “bang.” Therefore, I assume it means “bang,” “I got you/it,” “I scored,” etc.

Ok, here’s one that I understand had a brief surge of popularity perhaps 2 years ago, but I didn’t understand it then and still don’t now:

</div>

All your base are belong to us. Is that right? What does it mean, why was it popular and where did it come from?

It was from a Japanese video game. There was a rather inept attempt by the makers (I believe) to translate into English…as we all know, English and Japanese are difficult to translate literally. So, what I would imagine was to be “All your bases belong to us” as in we done captured all ya’ll" Became "ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US. So, some very inventive creatures thought to splice it into American culture, road signs, church signs, fast food advertisements, see all our base did belong to them.

Jell-o shots were created by Satan to get your party guests very shit-faced, very fast.

Make your favorite flavor Jell-o with your favorite liqour, (Strawberry Jell-O and blackberrry brandy is a great combo.)
Stick in the fridge and let it set, and let the games begin. ( Hide any and all small animals.)
