Also, according to the Dayton Daily News this morning, they will protest at the funeral of Marine and “missing white woman” Maria Lauterbach, as well as the funeral of Jon Schoolcraft III, killed in Iraq. Shirley Phelps-Roper, venom dripping from her fangs and the snakes on her head hissing and writhing, stated, “The main reason (we’re picketing) is God hates the U.S. military. God hates America and America is doomed.” She then slunk away, leaving a trail of slime etching the ground. Can’t we block them up in their lair or something? ---

OK, this one I don’t get. If Phred were bashing Hinckley for the same reasons [Jack Chick](http://www.chick.com/catalog/comics/0118.asp) would, that would make a certain kind of sense. But how exactly was Hinckley (or the LDS church generally) a “fag-enabler”? Mormons are expected to get **married** and have **children,** aren’t they? ---

(not that murdering them would be right). I guess one can only hope that they protest the funeral of someone who has a insane borderline homicidal maniac uncle or something. ---

Speaking as an ex-Mormon, and a longtime, formerly devout one at that, I can’t think of many churches that are _less_ “fag-enabling” than the Mormons. In its own way, this is as stupid as their picketing of Fred Rogers’s funeral. ---

[/QUOTE] For a long time I’ve secretly hoped that someone, prehaps with end-stage AIDS with nothing to lose, would off the whole family. Of course there’s the risk of turning them into martyrs, but at least we’d be rid of those scum. “Not that murdering them would be right.” 😉 ---

Gosh, all this protesting aren’t they spreading themselves a bit thin? Nothing Phelps does anymore surprises me. I just don’t understand how someone so full of hate can keep on living, you’d think he’d have stroked out, had a massive M.I. or developed a bleeding ulcer. My theory is that the hate is the only thing keeping him alive. Without all that acid and bile coursing through his system he would just collapse in a puddle of goo. ---

All of these serve their primary purpose of getting Phred face time in the media quite well. IIRC, half the time they never actually show up, Phred having gotten a big enough ego boost from just the reaction to the announcement. ---

OK OK I have a idea. We should form a “Phans of Phred” fan club and show up and treat him like he’s this comedy act, like a really over-the-top Stephen Colbert. The more he and/or his followers get worked up and spew bile, we’d just laugh and laugh … ---

[/QUOTE] Well, he picketed Jerry Falwell’s funeral for being a “fag enabler”. The problem (for Fred) is that both the Mormons and Falwell have said (about gay people), “God loves you. He just wants you to stop being gay/having gay sex.”…that whole “hate the sin, not the sinner idea.” The idea that God loves gay people is heresy to Fred Phelps. He’s not going to ever say to a gay person, “God loves you, but he wants you to stop being gay.” He’s going to tell them, “God hates you, and you’re going to burn in hell forever.” Basically, anyone, even people who are antigay, who have any sort of compassion at all for gay people or recognize the humanity of gay people, are “fag enablers” and will burn in hell for it. ---
