The social workers let the kid stay in a dangerous home environment where his father eventually beat him to death even though Child Protective Services were notified about the serious problem. If the goal, or a goal, is “keeping families together,” kids will be left with abusive or neglectful parents. If the goal, or a goal, is “getting families back together,” kids will be returned to abusive or neglectful parents. The ONLY goal should be to do what’s best for the child. ---
