What’s the difference between the whitespace characters?
‘Cabbage’ is the odd one out. It’s the only one starting with a letter in the first third of the alphabet. Or maybe because it’s the only one composed of leaves.
No, wait. It’s ‘pea’. The others are eaten whole (or cut up – you know what I mean), and peas are seeds that are removed from the pod.
‘Tomato’, because it’s the only one that’s bright red when ripe.
No, that’s not it. It has to be the potato, since potatoes are roots and the others aren’t.
Unless ‘ladyfinger’ means ‘okra’. Then that would be it because it’s the only one that’s slimy when cooked.
It’s not white, but very very pale magnolia.
And it’s between two consonants.
Or in other words, the question itself is silly.
Are you sure these numbers are accurate? My gut feeling is that one of the 1s in the last number should be a 7. If that’s the case, then the odd one is 3197. I know these questions are somewhat ambiguous, but this one’s more ambiguous than it should be.
It’s also the only number in the list exactly divisible by 9.
- It’s the only date in the past.
A ladyfinger is a variety of banana as well - does that help?
Does it fly?
Since this one isn’t really suitable for General Questions, let’s try IMHO.

I’m going with 3197. Not just because it has a 9, but because 9 is the only digit in the list that’s not prime.
I’m also going with ladyfinger. It has 3 (or 4) different vowels, whereas the others are made up of ony 2: ea, a(y)ie oa oa ae.
1 isn’t prime either. Not that it matters.
B) ‘Cabbage’ is the only word of the five that doesn’t have a long vowel sound.
This is from a national geographic contest for kids aged 10 to 14 . This question is given in the online trial test .
Numbers are accurate , cut and pasted from a website.
I’d say
A= 3197, all odd, none others have a 9
B= Lady finger, It’s not a veggie (that is if, referring to a cake thing with frosting)
(no, I didn’t peek either,added comma’s…damn laptop)
- Potato. (Assuming Ladyfinger is Okra; the other 4 grow above ground, potato below).
For number two, I actually picked ‘pea’, because all the others have three vowels and this one had two.
How did that 24K og ia something or another thing go?
14 k of g in a f p d?
A. 3197 I don’t know why, other than most of the others have 1,3,7 & 5 in them, and this one feels more wrong than 3115.
b. Ladyfinger. It’s not produce/grown in soil etc.
