pick your show/movie, tell me when to get up and leave.

A terrible movie, yes, but my favorite line was actually, “You’re like the drunken, abusive grandfather I never had!” And that comes later.

I strongly agree. A wonderful miniseries that should never have become a multi-season series.

I love Dark City! The director’s cut actually omits the opening voiceover, and has some other cool bits, too. Check it out.

I’ll nominate Apocalypse Now. You can leave after the helicopter assault on the Vietnamese village to the tune of “Ride of the Valkyries,” and the surfing/“napalm in the morning” scene immediately following it.

I’m a little more generous regarding The X-Files. I would give it as far as Season 7. But it’s awfully rough sledding beyond that.

Charmed: Stop after season 7. Season 8 seemed like it was tacked on in the hopes of having a spin off based on the new witch they introduced in it. Though I do have to admit I loved the 2 part finale of this season.

Supernatural: Stop after the finale of season 5, entitled Swan Song. This would have been the perfect finale for the show. Season 6 spends the first half the season building up to a huge battle between the hunters and the mother of all monsters. This idea had potential, and I think they could have stretched it over a few seasons, since they introduced new ideas to the show with her appearance. Instead they decide to go with a good angel going power hungry. I have no idea how this settled out in s7, as I haven’t watched any of it.

Married with Children: Skip any episode that features Peggy and Marcy as pregnant, or has their nephew Seven on it.

Justice League Unlimited: Stop at the end of s4. The only good episodes of s5 are Patriot Act, Grudge Match, and the 2 part finale, which is more of a Superman: TAS finale than it is a JL finale.

Braveheart: right after the Battle of Falkirk. After that point I got up to leave at least 3 times because I thought the movie was over, but it just kept going.

I just rewatched Jericho. Stop after the season one finale. The last seven episodes do little to give you any closure, but you do get to see a teenager murdered.

Going back a ways, but stop watching Magnum P.I. at the end of season 7. Magnum has been shot and while dying, Magnum has an out of body experience while trying to tie up loose ends in his life. The episode ends with Magnum walking “towards the light” toward heaven, presumably.

Then the show got unexpectedly renew, and Magnum got rescued and spent season 8 trying to figure out whether Higgins was really Robin Masters. It wasn’t very good.

*Dead Like Me *- stop after the series finale. Don’t watch the movie.

(To be honest, I like the stuff with George’s family in the movie - the rest is crap.)

I see the logic of this, but would note that skipping the “alternate universe” eps of Deep Space Nine means you will be missing one of the most … entertaining … characters in all of Trek: Intendant Kira Nerys. She’s Kira, but evil and leather-clad.

You forgot

Evilly bisexual, having had sex with alt-Sisko, alt-Jadzia, and alt-Leela. And was visibly interested in doing it with her own alternate self.

Oh, no - I remembered that bit very well. But I prefer to let people discover that bit for themselves - and the truth is, some folks can’t help spoiling themselves, even when you post in a spoiler box.

Now that the cat’s out of the box, You forgot alt-Ezri.

No,

I **ignored **alt-Ezri, as is only proper. DS9’s last two seasons are best watched by skipping all non-arc episodes. Such is the word of Athena.

From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)

Right after Salma Hayek turns into a vampire.

Hawaii Five-O (original Jack Lord): skip it when it gets to its later seasons (albeit there are some outings that I looked at on Roku that were pretty good in my opinion).

If your goddess insists that we miss watching

The lovely Nicole de Boer (Ezri Dax) calmly, coldly line up a shot on a serial killer with her teleporter-equipped sniper rifle then I fear, sir, I must forsake Pallas.

MASH*: quit when Col. Blake leaves. And I mean seriously, as soon as he leaves. Don’t even finish that episode.

Athena is not one of those penny-ante godlings who needs worshippers. She is quite capable of getting along without them. Occasionally she chooses a champion, but if you are fortunate enough to be chosen by her, she will simply use the power of sweet reason to enlist your services.

My wife’s version of Dances with Wolves ends when they pack up the camp and head off to the winter quarters to avoid the US army.

When you watch Source Code (a rather good SF movie with Jake Gyllenhaal), turn off the TV when they kiss and everything freezes in place.

Unmoved by the “charms” of any of the suggested, sorry. I’m not sure that Pallas is influencing these decisions.

All in the Family: Leave when Mike and Gloria move out.

E.R.: Leave when Dr. Greene dies.
