No nonsense, irritated: “just the facts”; telling Gannon what he just heard/now knows, in short clipped tones AND 2. Slightly more irritated/exasperated: “Now listen to me, Mister!” Also, there was the episode where Friday discovers the potsmokers’ child drowned in the bathtub. Gannon comes in behind Friday, sees the dead kid, turns and rushes out of the room (to vomit in the hall instead of right there in the toilet, apparently). So by my count, Morgan also had at least two modes, and that’s what I call “range.” ---

Yeah, I know, but I went for the cheap laugh. A few years ago I saw Sunset Blvd for the first time, and was surprised to see JW really _acting_, as a “high energy wiseguy” type of character IIRC. Intereresting trivia I found recently on youtube: “Appointment With Danger” 1951, short scene with bad guy Harry Morgan getting beat up by badder guy Jack Webb. I grew up watching Jack Webb, loved him. (50’s kid.) ---
