Add me to the pecan pie crowd (and cherry, key lime, and strawberry – but not the double-crust strawberry [usually paired with rhubarb] kind – [the heaping strawberry with glaze](http://www.browneyedbaker.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/strawberry-pie-2-550.jpg) [and whipped cream] pie). Spare a thought to the now-unemployed girls at the decades-old Taffy’s Hairy Pie Club in Bangkok’s Washington Square, which closed it’s doors for the last time a month or two ago, as the entire square is being torn down for redevelopment. (Well, some have found new employment, but another venerable old institution bites the dust.) ---

You knew when he was in the mood to bake because people would come for miles around. They were THAT good. Cherry’s my personal favorite, with vanilla ice cream on the side.
