Well, since I have no real talents, or skills, or jobs, my contributions have to be more miniscule. But, there’s a chance I’ve made you laugh at some point, as, for the last 10+ years, I’ve been doing stand-up and improvisational comedy. Particularly if you’ve ever been to any comedy clubs in Louisville, KY, Indianapolis, Chicago, Dayton, OH, Kansas City, MO, Atlanta, or one night in NYC. I’ve also done the occasional “goofy voice” for some Louisville radio stations, and, once, you may have heard me on Bob and Tom’s radio show. ---

If you have accessed data regarding spinal cord injury treatment and outcomes from NIDRR (National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitative Research) Model Centers Network chances are a large portion of it was generated by the programs of my hospital. ---

If you’ve ever picked up a prescription from a pharmacist, the chances are extremely good that the medicine got to the pharmacist by way of software I’ve worked on. And this applies wherever you live in the U.S. ---

If you lived in West Linn Oregon or southern Lake Oswego last summer and you ordered a pizza delivery from Round Table, there’s a good chance I delivered it. If you were in Clackamas County and you stumbled upon a funny cartoon on the public access station about an alien and a pot-smoking monkey, it was probably [my cartoon](http://monito.fanspace.com/index.html). You will also have some of my artwork if you were the one person who’s ordered one of the posters I uploaded to [Zazzle](http://www.zazzle.com/contributors/products/gallery/browse_results.asp?cid=238799580717832611). (That’s right: One person! I have no idea who, where, or which poster it was, but I’ve checked the contributor status page, and in the 3 months since I uploaded the pictures, I’ve had exactly one sale. It’s driving me nuts, because now I really want to know which poster it was, who bought it, what they did with it, etc.) ---

If you bought a really fancy wedding cake in the Bay Area about 10 years ago, I probably helped you out, or at least fed you cake samples. Later on, I may have helped you find that odd piece of information you were looking for, as I am a librarian. More significantly, if you get a tumor sometime, DangerDad may well have had a significant hand in producing the software that designs your radiation therapy much better than was possible before. (He is also a doper.) ---

If you’ve attempted to call Kaiser Permanente insurance for a billing dispute and dialed the wrong number in the last 3 years, odds are, you talked to me or one of my co- workers. Our toll free number is just one double digit off of Kaiser’s billing line. We get several calls a month from befuddled people who want to complain about their account. ---

Anywhere in the world, but especially in the U.S., if you’ve seen a commercial shipping container - on a ship, on a truck, on the railroad - you may well have seen equipment I was or am responsible for managing. If you are in Hawai’i the chance is almost 100% it was one of mine — but I work elsewhere now, so I am not so Hawai’i-centric. ---

If you decorate for Christmas or Halloween with little villages and figures that you buy at KMart, WalMart, Michael’s, Lowe’s, Dillard’s or various drugstores, you are probably buying a figure I designed. I generate the concepts and do dimensional drawings that are then sent to Hong Kong to be produced. I did a lot of the Gingerbread people and accessories that are out this year - they were fun 🙂 . I suspect Dopers aren’t our main demographic, though… ---

Every time you go to the bathroom in the US, Canada or Mexico there is about a 50% chance that I tested and or approved the clay in the toilet or urinal. You all are just making a mess of my handywork. 😉 About a 25% chance I tested the clay in the ceramic tile on the floor or wall. ---

If you live in New Jersey, Ohio or Michigan, and your kids took a graduation test, chances are I did the graphics. Ditto for Michigan and Arkansas grade school tests, as well as North Carolina Science and Reading. And no, I won’t tell you the answers. ---

If you had a cleft-affected child, had a relationship problem, a stoma/ostomy, were interested in online dating, or an interest in Pilates during 2001, and if you bought a book associated with one of these issues published by a small publishing company in the Bay Area, CA, I had a hand in making that book’s text look purty (I was an editorial assistant). If you are a large company and looked to do business with a large law firm with offices in SF, San Jose, LA, NYC, DC and New Jersey in 2002, it’s entirely possible that I checked your company’s corporate tree on Dun & Bradstreet or Lexis-Nexus to determine that that lawfirm wouldn’t get sued from taking on your business. If you live in Colorado now and your kid has gotten any kind of medical care in his/her school so far this school year, I’ve had a hand in making sure the school had the money to pay for that medical service. Now you can’t tell me that these things aren’t super-duper exciting.
