hi, i’ve had a pigeon sittin on her eggs, on my balcony for about a month now. i’ve read that the gestation period for pigeons is maximum 19 days - any idea what might be going on with Lucille (that would be the pigeons name)…? thanx, srd ---

Maybe the eggs are infertile, but Lucille lacks the necessary protocols to diagnose this fact. How did you get her to reveal her name, by the way? ---

Why on earth are you sitting idly by while a pigeon is poised to increase the pigeon population? They are just flying rats. I would get rid of the next and chase off the fowl fiend. ---

maybe mangetout - a good point - her name just came to me, i was out on my balcony having a smoke and admiring her and Lucile was the name that popped into my head, so i decided to go with it. wonderwench - i really dont think it’s my place to decide which species deserve to be eliminated, and which not. and i’m rather looking forward to seeing Lucile’s babies. ---

I [vote](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=299721) for pegging the bastards before they multiply, but apparently many people would [not agree](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=176851). Don’t know the answer but if/when they hatch pls take some pix and post them. I’ve always wondered why I, and everyone else I’ve ever asked, have never seen a baby pigeon, or even a small one.
