No, not that I know of. But that is my question. I have heard rumors for years and every time I get excited, like a gold fish with a 30 second memory. Anyway has anyone heard of anything, what could be a warning signs that a tour of some sort could happen. Yes I know this will probably never happen but remember the gold fish. :smack:

Maybe if I can get Roger to do karaoke at the bar I go to on Thursday and Friday nights. Then Dave, Rich, and Nick will show up, instruments in tow. I, of course, will supply the lasers…

That’s the only way it could happen. Even if you forget about the animosity between Roger Waters and the rest of Pink Floyd (which is still alive and well), they’ve gone in different directions artistically. I don’t think they’re compatible musically. As much as you and I would like to see it happen, I don’t think any of the Floyd alums have any reason to wish this to happen.

Of course, if anybody has some evidence that I’m wrong this time, I’d be delighted.

That’s just cold-blooded, man.

IAC, Roger hasn’t written two good lines of lyrics back to back in, like, 20 years. And all of Gilmour’s decent ones have been pokes at Roger, so I wonder if they could even come up with any good new material anymore.

Waters has completely scotched the idea of a full line-up. Gilmour says it is unlikely that it would ever happen. Mason will come if they call, but won’t push for it.

And don’t pull this “misleading header” trick again; it’s the act of a dumbfuck.

I believe they did play together for a song during their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. It is one of the more bitter breakups in music, but anything can happen I suppose. Roger just needs to get short of money or something.

Now let’s see if they can get Syd back in the band. That would be an interesting challenge.

[hijack]

Of the countless (thousands?) of reunions that have taken place in the past, can you cite any in which something memorable came from it?

Isn’t there anything respectable about passing up a big pay check and letting the past remain the past?

In the case of Pink Floyd, do you really think a reunion would result in anything that meets or surpasses the qualtity of Water’s mid-80’s solo work? Hasn’t Waters basically admitted his career is finished, having not released anything memorable or original in (what) 12 years? Would a Pink Floyd reunion give any band members a burst of creativity & a rediscovery of their muse – or would it end up being just a waste of the public’s time and money?

Curious - Though I think it’s time to move on…

I think that as the article says, Q aren’t the first magazine to claim this will happen and they probably won’t be the last. However, having just published a magazine in which two band members are quoted in interview as saying that it _won’t_ happen, they will be the stupidest-looking.

obviously am a huge fan and will scour the earth, even if it’s one show. yes there not what they were and if you have seen the new Gilmour CD he looks bad, they don’t have “it” the diamond is tarnished. I don’t care just the thought is too great to resist. :smack:

You’ve just removed yourself from my Christmas Card list, there, **Snaggletooth**.

Not that I believed it anyway. I may be a Pollyanna for some things, but I know the cold, hard reality of Floyd. Sadly.

I saw Roger during his last two solo tour passes a couple of years ago and he looks and sounds great. His voice actually sounds stronger then it did back in the day. I have to agree that he hasn’t done anything new creativelly in a long time. His solo music sounds very cold war era and dated when he plays it now. He played one new song on the tour and it sounded much like his other solo work.
David Gilmour has done some concerts and guest recording over the last five years and he has not looked good in his last few public appearances. He is very heavy, and looks very tired and old. I have heard rumors of health issues, but none that I can back up with a cite.
Given that information, and that Roger is making plenty of money when he tours on his own, I don’t see them getting back together. For a long time, I hoped that they would, but now I am happy to listen to their existing music and be happy that they created it. I don’t think they could create anything to top it.

\> DING! \< ::: Rings Moderator’s bell :::

I don’t know whether this thread was started as a fraud or not, but I do know:
(1) the original header (“Pink Floyd Reunited!”)is certainly misleading, and I have changed it

(2) calling someone a “dumbfuck” is not permitted outside the forum called BBQ Pit. **Evil Death** , you’re out of line here. If you think that a header is misleading, the appropriate action is to push the button to REPORT THIS POST (the little exclamation point in the upper right corner of the post) and let a Moderator handle it. You’ve been around long enough to know better. Consider that I have kicked you, hard, in the shins.

(3) **Snaggletooth** , when you feel that you’ve been personally attacked outside the forum called BBQ Pit, the appropriate response it to push the button to REPORT THIS POST (the little exclamation point in the upper right corner of the post; gosh, I feel like I’m repeating myself, like history). Do NOT respond in kind. You’re out of line in your response; you’re new enough to be excused this time, one whack with a ruler across the back the hand.

I think you just explained yourself why there are so many rumors even if there’s nothing to them, which is probably the case. People want it to happen, so they talk and you get rumors. Articles slanted to try and make it sound like it could happen when it won’t don’t help matters.

If Pink Floyd wanted to get back together, I think they already would have. It’s been true for years that there’s plenty of money in it. If they still don’t like each other and greed isn’t a factor (which leads to shitty reunions anyway), I doubt it’s gonna happen. Same goes for Cream - though they don’t hate each other, they just don’t seem to want to play together - and a bunch of other bands.

What’s left of The Floyd and Waters will not be in the same room together, much less reunite for the purpose of touring or recording. Waters has gone on record several times as _despising_ the other members for what he considers artistic sellout and wholesale larceny of the Floyd legacy, of which he considers himself easily the foremost proprietor. The other members have expressed their willingness to bury the hatchet, but also share the oppinion that Waters was, in the later Floyd years, sheer misery to work with; so I can’t really understand their conciliatory attitude, unless the vast sum of money to be had via such a reunion eclipses all other considerations.

Snaggle, good fellow, it will _never_ happen. The closest we are likely to get is another Watersless Floyd tour, and even Gilmour has said he considers such a thing highly unlikely, for no other reason than they’re all old men now, and it’s time to retire. Gilmour trotted out Wright for his last recording (a semi-accoustic benefit concert, I think), so he clearly has nothing against performing with ex-Floyd members. I think they’re all just sick of it, frankly, and have made such gargantuan amounts of cash off of the last couple of pseudo-Floyd tours, why go to the trouble?

Floyd is/was long dead. Long live The Floyd.

Actually Roger and David worked together on the release of the live Wall album a few years ago. I don’t think they hate each other anymore, I just think they have no desire to tour or record new music together.

You mean they worked together in each other’s presence, or they both provided their input from afar? Because that’s how they “worked together” on “Echos: The Best of Pink Floyd”. I read an interview from just post Echos in which Gilmour stated explicity that he had not been in the same room with Waters since the late ‘80s and was in contact with him only through lawyers occasionally, per Waters’ wishes.

I thought that I read (I believe this was an interview with Roger Waters in a major music mag around 2000) they actually were in the same room working on _Is There Anybody Out There?_ . Something about the fact they were older. I believe Roger reiterated in that interview that they were likely to never tour again as Pink Floyd.

I have a Roger Waters solo album called _In the Flesh_ (buncho Wall tunes, mostly) and I remember reading in the liner notes that he and Nick Mason had seen each other at some park or something and had a nice chat, etc. Friendly and all that. Judging from those same liner notes, Roger seems to have softened a bit.
