Any dog that bites a human should be evaluated. I had an old dog who bit a meter reader . The man yelled, “She’s biting my shoe”…My wife said to him…“You’re standing on her foot!” “Oh. Sorry old girl.” Evaluation complete. I’ve seen an article relative to Colorado, banning vs. retraining, that made re-education of any dog that was aggressive seem like a viable alternative. I’ve never wanted any breed to be dragged from their home and euthanized. Neuter them, limit the breeding to folks who don’t breed for aggression, and see what happens? ---

Okay, to sum up our findings in this thread: 1. Nobody can be sure just what a “pitbull” is, outside of the American Pit Bull Terrier because it has “Pit Bull” in its name. 2. That fact has not stopped many people, including some contributors here, from claiming they can. 3. Lots of people are stupid. 4. People who abuse their dogs, of any breed, to be “tougher” are both stupid and crazy. 5. Pitbullish dogs are the current canine darlings of the stupid and crazy. 6. All dogs are stupid. 7. Because of nos. 3 through 6, any dog might bite you. 8. Closely docked ears are creepy looking. 9. Many people react negatively to creepy-looking dogs (see no. 3). 10. This makes the people of no. 4 happy because they are stupid and crazy. 11. Banning something, be it a dog or an AR-15 because it’s creepy looking and has been misused and misidentified is silly, partly because of no. 10. (You don’t want to make stupid and crazy people happy. They don’t react as you would expect because they are stupid and crazy.) 12. Some people on both sides will disagree with this sum-up because they are too emotionally invested in being right. They then get shrill, which makes them sound stupid and crazy. I’ve known most of you for years and maybe you are a bit stupid on some topics, none of you are all that crazy. Simply shut up for a minute, accept that this might be something you’ve grown stupid about, and move on. Shrieking at each other will solve nothing, and it stopped being entertaining for the audience pages ago. ---

Just a hunch here, but I’m guessing that someone running their own business and advertising would list any and all relevant education, qualifications, certifications and credentials they could get their hands on. Simply doing something for 20 years doesn’t make anyone an ‘expert’ at anything if they’ve never been properly trained in the first place. Do you think someone working as a fortune teller for 20 years is an expert in reading minds and conversing with the dead?
