I’m a forum kinda person. I try to give my honest opinion about things. Imagine my dismay when you send me a private e-mail telling me that ‘I don’t really understand you’ and to ‘shut up’. Right. I don’t fucking want to do either. To me, the unwritten rules of a discussion forum include stating an opinon ON THE FUCKING FORUM. I don’t want to hear your whining in my Inbox. I don’t expect your fucking diatribes in my e-mail. You have no right to tell me to shut up. I will when I feel like it, asshole. So FUCK OFF, dumb loser e-mail sender. I’m being nice by not exposing your fucking e-mail address, right? Blocking you will be a pleasure. - PW ---

Abusive emails were the reason that I stopped sharing my main address here. The moderators/administrators are your allies on this and they will treat seriously (or at least they have done so in my experience) any cases of abusive behaviour that begin on-board and continue privately; forward one of them a copy of any problematic messages. ---

Shit, Sending stuff to your e-mail addess is kinda rude. I gotta admit though, I’m impressed that you generated that kind of response. Send the mail on to the Staff. Half the fun of having an email addy is seeing who I have pissed off this time! _shrug_ Most of the boards I frequent sending the “shut up” email instead of posting to the forum is considered good manners. The other emails I have gotten from Dopers have been nice, complimentary ones or information I had inquired about but wasnt really germane to the topic at hand. ---

I only got a ‘mean’ email once. I have gotten lots of ‘nice’ email from dopers. However only members should be able to email you. Just copy and past the email in the thread in question. ---

I think I’ve gotten about 3 emails from members since I joined. All have been questions that were either OT or would not interest the rest of the SDMB. Did develop a friendship with one member that way. No big deal. Don’t like it, then don’t respond, but don’t Pit him/her! :dubious: ---

I’ve gotten a very modest amount of emails from Dopers over the years. All of it has been complimentary words or politely asking a question, not a single piece of hate mail. Yes, I am jealous. It would be cool if you could link to the post that prompted the mail and cut and paste the email (with out the sender’s name) for out amusement.
